This article discusses the importance of developing spatial visualization skills in
Primary Education, considering current social and technological demands that
require basic geometric literacy. It reflects on the challenges and opportunities in
developing geometric reasoning from early childhood, aiming to train individuals
capable of meaningfully and sustainably interpreting and interacting with physical
space. The study employed a qualitative approach based on bibliographic review,
supported by research in early childhood mathematics education and legal
frameworks, including Angola's Basic Education System Law. The findings reveal
that geometry teaching in early grades in Angola faces significant limitations due to
the predominance of traditional methods that superficially emphasize arithmetic and
weaken geometric practices.
