Abstract

Self myofascial release (ALMF) is a pre-workout self-massage technique to prepare muscles to improve performance. This study analyzed its effect on lower limb muscle strength in Cross training practitioners, using multiple RM tests in the back squat exercise in two situations: without ALMF (SALMF) and with previous ALMF. In SALMF, the average load was 112.56 kg (± 14.26) with 37.5 repetitions (± 8.48), while with ALMF, the average load was 120.83 kg (± 17.87) with 54.16 repetitions (±10.81). Although there was no significant difference in force production, the number of repetitions varied significantly, suggesting that ALMF can improve muscular endurance, even without affecting absolute strength.
