Abstract

This article deals with the genre of the oral tradition literature, focusing in more detail on the legend, its process of meaning and the signification of the genre in question. Thus, this work aims to highlight not only the historical-cultural importance of the legend, but also its influence and projection in popular imagination and knowledge. The focus of this work is also the semiotic analysis of two legends chosen from the municipality of Mirandela, district of Bragança, which translate the common values of a Portuguese region of Trás-os-Montes.
