Environmental values and ecosystem services

Abstract

Nature can be considered as a social, environmental or natural good or service. We must preserve it by itself, so that all living beings, on a local or global scale, can enjoy it equitably, as a producer of value in the aesthetic, historical and scientific senses. Nowadays, there is a crisis of values, not only human, but also environmental. This crisis is the result of the way human beings explore and relate to the environment. In this work, using a literature review, we propose to present, in general, what values are, their importance and what are, from the perspective of some authors, the environmental values, emphasizing the history of environmental ethics and how ecosystem
services can play an important role in terms of environmental values.
