Environmental Education and Biodiversity

Abstract

The present paper deals with two topics of fundamental importance and closely related to each other: the environmental education and biodiversity. The twenty-first century has been a time of important reflections on the future of the planet that without any doubt is at great risk. In fact, in several world regions the effects of long decades of destruction and abuse are already felt. The planet's ecosystems and its biodiversity is endangering life of humanity itself. Despite this evidence the task of fighting so troubling issues such as global warming has not been easy, nor served the desirable purpose of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to the environment. Therefore, it is necessary to act directly and in relation to persons and governments in order to alert consciences, and that is the role of environmental education. Environmental education represents a fundamental instrument and is a field of overgrow responsibility. Only the change of current attitudes can contribute to an effective fight against general destruction of the world's biodiversity
