Geological trail - Village of São Pedro de Sarracenos

Abstract

The construction of a geological roadmap is not an easy task to be executed, there are many details and aspects to be considered which can be seen as a difficulty for the accomplishment of the work. The first item to be defined should be the choice of the place to be studied, it should be an area preferably unexplored or unknown, in order to promote its insertion among the points of interest of a region. Once the area is outlined, the research phase begins (searching websites for content such as articles, news, on-site visits to get to know the space, dialogue with inhabitants, interviews with local authorities, search for maps), all important aspects in order to obtain as much information as possible to identify the relevant points to be worked on. After a minimum knowledge of the location, the route of interest to explore was defined (natural, economic, heritage and geological attractions). The chosen location, was the parish of São Pedro de Sarracenos, inserted in the district of Bragança, a place of great natural beauty, which is not included in the routes to be visited in the municipality. A geological itinerary can be a tool at the service of education, in order to disseminate and raise awareness for both natural and environmental aspects.
