Communicate with sense (s) in the XIX Century in Portugal: the emblematic 1852 year

In this paper we present the results of an exploratory study about the Portuguese press in the emblematic year of 1852, which corresponds to profound changes in portuguese society, arising from the final fall of Cabralismo in 1851 and the advent of regeneration. Innovation is the watchword, end the stagnation and disorder caused by political instability in which up to then lived. The universe of periodicals starting in 1852, a total of 34 new titles, is significant and deserved our particular attention in the context of wider research on the press in the nineteenth century, where each author stands. This article is based on the survey and analysis of the publications mentioned using the existing estate in the City of Port Library and the National Library, in Lisbon, supported by hermeneutics in analysis and synthesis inserts texts in the 34 referred journal forcibly taking into account not only the our primary sources, but also a large variety of secondary sources, including, historiography and literature, for the period under study.
