Abstract

This research deals with Brazilian legislation regarding the training, at a higher level, of a teacher in music. The methodology is qualitative with ex post facto constituents. A historical description of the teacher training in music is carried out based on the analysis of the Law on Guidelines and Bases of Brazilian Education (Law 9.394 / 1996), National Curricular Guidelines for the Undergraduate Music Course (Resolution 02/2004-CES / CNE) , National Curricular Guidelines for Initial Higher Education (Resolution 02/2015-CNE), the National Guidelines for the Operationalization of Music Education in Basic Education (Resolution 02/2016-CNE), the proposal of the National Curricular Common Base for the Basic Education (2nd version / 2016), texts and manifestos of associations of the area regarding the current changes of public educational policies occurred in Brazil and their implications in the courses of Licenciatura in music.
